Canadair CL-215
Overview
The Canadair CL-215 is a twin-engine amphibious flying boat purpose-built for aerial firefighting. It scoops water from lakes or the sea and drops it on wildfires, and can also support search and rescue and transport tasks. First flown in the 1960s, the CL-215 became a global standard for water bombers before the turboprop CL-415 successor. Many air forces and civil agencies operated the type for decades of fire seasons.
