The Aviation Diary is an independent aviation news and reference platform covering commercial and military aviation, aerospace, defense, space, aircraft, airlines, airports, museums, airshows, manufacturers, history, and related developments.
What is the Aircraft Encyclopedia?
It is a growing collection of aircraft profiles, specifications, variants, manufacturers, roles, categories, production status, and history. Specifications can differ by model, variant, operator, configuration, modification, date, or source.
Can I use specifications for flying or maintenance?
No. Use approved flight manuals, pilot operating handbooks, maintenance manuals, manufacturer publications, regulatory material, and qualified professionals for technical or operational decisions.
How does Flying Near You work?
It displays available aircraft activity using adsb.lol or another identified provider. Coverage varies, and aircraft may be missing, delayed, duplicated, or incorrectly identified. It is not suitable for navigation, flight following, emergency response, or operational use.
What is Squawk Watch?
Squawk Watch displays available information about aircraft broadcasting selected emergency transponder codes. A squawk alone does not explain what is happening. Do not attempt to respond personally or approach restricted aviation areas.
How does the Flight Board work?
Enter a three-letter IATA airport code or allow your browser to identify the nearest supported airport. The nearest-airport calculation takes place in your browser, and precise coordinates are not stored by The Aviation Diary. Flight information is supplied through AeroDataBox where identified.
Is the Flight Board official?
No. Always verify times, gates, terminals, delays, cancellations, and status directly with the airline or airport. Information may be delayed, incomplete, incorrect, or changed after display.
How do local searches work?
Airport, museum, and airshow directories may be searched by ZIP code, state, location, or radius. Confirm hours, dates, access, facilities, and event status with the venue or organizer before traveling.
Does the site store my precise location?
For the Nearest Airport Flight Board, precise coordinates are used in the browser to determine the nearest supported airport and are not stored by The Aviation Diary. IP addresses and approximate IP-derived location may still be processed as described in the Privacy Policy. You can decline location permission and enter an airport code.
