Canadair CL-415
Overview
The Canadair CL-415 (also marketed as the Canadair 415) is a purpose-built amphibious water bomber developed from the CL-215. Turboprop engines, improved systems, and refined aerodynamics give it higher productivity on firefighting circuits: scooping thousands of litres from lakes or the sea in seconds, then delivering drops on wildfires. Operators worldwide rely on the type for rapid initial attack and sustained suppression in regions where land-based tankers cannot reload nearby. The airframe's boat hull and retractable gear support water and runway operations. Production and support have continued under subsequent owners, keeping the 415 family central to aerial firefighting fleets in Europe, North America, and beyond.
