Airbus Skywise training products are expanding as Airbus brings three digital flight-training services into the Skywise portfolio, according to a company announcement dated Nov. 2. The changes encompass the MATe Suite, Virtual Procedure Trainer and Flight eLearning, linking pilot preparation more closely with the company’s wider digital services.
The move follows the creation of a unified Skywise business combining Navblue and Skywise Digital Solutions earlier in 2026. Airbus said the reorganization is intended to simplify access for training managers, operators and pilots without disrupting existing customer deployments.
The announcement concerns digital training products and their distribution. It is not a new aircraft order, a replacement for required full-flight simulation or evidence that regulators have approved a changed qualification standard for pilot licenses.

Airbus Skywise training combines existing products
Airbus said the Skywise MATe Suite is a cloud-based learning environment for A320, A330 and A350 families. Pilots can study aircraft systems and cockpit layouts using interactive three-dimensional modules. The company describes it as a way to prepare for type ratings, recurrent training and familiarization with differences among models.
The suite includes system knowledge modules, engine and model differences briefings, completion certificates and an examination component. That combination supports structured ground study and allows trainees to demonstrate understanding of technical subjects before progressing to other training activities.
Moving the product into the unified Skywise portfolio does not mean every airline has already adopted it. Airbus did not identify a new fleet-wide training mandate or publish a list of confirmed customers changing providers as a direct result of the Nov. 2 announcement.
Virtual procedures before a full simulator session
Skywise Virtual Procedure Trainer, or VPT, is designed to let pilots rehearse cockpit sequences. Airbus said it can be used on mobile devices and in virtual-reality settings, with interactive panels, switches and procedures. The intended benefit is procedural familiarity before expensive or limited full-flight simulator time is allocated.
The company described support for standard operating procedures and abnormal situations. A procedural trainer can improve recall and workflow preparation, but it is not the same as practicing aerodynamic handling and crew coordination in a qualified full-flight simulator. The scope of any credited training remains subject to airline programs and applicable authorities.
Airbus framed the VPT as part of a continuum from classroom or remote instruction to formal simulator sessions. That creates opportunities for trainees to repeat procedures individually, while organizations can track progression and address knowledge gaps ahead of scheduled training events.
Hosting, access and commercial implications
Airbus said Skywise is deploying a flexible hosting platform intended to streamline registration and access control for instructors, operators and learners. The company also promised service continuity for existing customers as products move into the reorganized portfolio. There was no announced switch-off date for current training deployments.
The portfolio will combine digital learning materials with the Skywise name, which already spans other aviation data services. Integrating products under a common commercial and technical umbrella does not by itself prove that every application now shares identical data, pricing or features.
For another Airbus technology and workforce development story, The Aviation Diary covered Mirabel investments supporting the A220 program. That industrial program is separate from the airline pilot-training services described here.
FAQ: Airbus Skywise training
Which tools are included in Airbus Skywise training?
Airbus identified the MATe Suite, Virtual Procedure Trainer and Flight eLearning in its Nov. 2 portfolio announcement.
Does the Skywise Virtual Procedure Trainer replace full-flight simulators?
No such replacement was announced. Airbus described VPT as preparation for and a complement to formal simulation sessions.
Which Airbus aircraft families does MATe support?
The company specified the A320, A330 and A350 families for its cloud-based MATe learning suite.
Looking Ahead
Airbus will roll out the unified hosting and access arrangements while existing users continue training. The measurable next steps are operator adoption and detailed implementation announcements. Specific customer contracts, prices and regulatory training credits were not established in the announcement.
